Cincy Royals Girls Lacrosse
Program Overview

After a successful inaugural 2013 season,  building upon the premier Boys lacrosse Club in Southern Ohio, the Cincy Royals Girls are excited to enter the 2014 year.    Our first year saw an Academy Program grow stronger and stronger throughout the summer, with girls making significant strides in their lacrosse development.  The Travel Teams were, quite frankly, more competitive and successful than one might have expected in their first year.  Within regional competition, our teams excelled, winning the vast majority of their games and having a whole lot of fun growing together as teams.  In East Coast play, all three teams performed well, won a number of their games and learned what is needed to win at this regions level of play.    We also spent a lot of time building a strong Steering Committee comprised of some of the top girls lacrosse coaches and leaders in Southern Ohio.  We are excited about 2014, and  building upon a great foundation.  We hope the program overview below  addresses any  questions you may have.

OUR GUIDING VALUES AND PRINCIPLES
  • Delivering girls a great summer lacrosse experience (e.g. fun!)
  • Providing girls with quality instruction that can help them become better high school players
  • Committed coaches who get to know the girls and are personally invested in their development both as players and as people
  • Teaching skills and the game.
  • Camaraderie and an opportunity to get to know girls from other schools
  • An opportunity to improve through competing against higher level competition
  • Recruiting support and a chance to compete in top recruiting tournaments for those girls who are willing to make a travel team commitment

OUR PROGRAM OFFERINGS

Royals Travel Teams--  The Royals Travel teams are for girls who are passionate about lacrosse and whose goal may be to play at the collegiate level.  Girls who wish to play for a Royals Girls travel team must be willing to make all practices and tournaments (e.g. make lacrosse a priority during the six week summer Club season).  Girls who play on Royals travel teams will be coached by some of the most respected high school coaches in Southern Ohio, and college players who play for some high level university programs.  Almost all of our coaches are US Lacrosse certified Level I and II.  Girls will play in some of the country’s top recruiting tournaments against the nation’s top Club teams.  Girls playing on our travel teams will also work closely with coaches and our Director of College Recruiting.  Together they  can help our players  develop a college recruitment plan and  fully leverage the online recruiting tools available through the Royals website (e.g. online player bios that college coaches can access, ability to create highlight reel using Royals game footage, etc).

Travel teams will be offered for the following Class years in 2014:
  • 2015 (current Juniors )
  • 2016 (current Sophomores )
  • 2017 (current Freshmen )
  • 2018 (current 8th graders)
  • MS Select (current 6th and 7th graders)
Most, if not all, of the ‘15s, ‘16s and ‘17s coaching staff will remain in place for 2014. Coaching assignments for the 2018  team are being finalized and will be announced prior to tryouts.  It is important to note that while parent volunteers are essential to run a strong Club program, the Royals do not allow parents to coach teams that their daughters (or sons) play on nor to influence Travel team player selection decisions.

Royals Academy TeamsRoyals Academy teams are for girls who: 1) are not yet old enough to play for a Royals travel team; 2) have an interest in developing their skills and playing lacrosse in the summer but aren’t willing to make the commitment required to play on a Travel team; or 3) need further skill improvement in order to make one of our Travel teams.

Our Academy teams will be coached by experienced coaches who are passionate about teaching and helping girls develop the fundamental lacrosse skills required to be successful high school players.  We will also have a low player to coach ratio so that players can receive individual coaching instruction.

While the emphasis of our Academy teams is skills acceleration, we will also have “House League” play so that girls can practice the skills they are learning under game speed conditions.  Our expectation is that girls will see dramatic skill improvement through our Academy program.

In addition, Academy teams will also be given the opportunity to attend at least one tournament.  While we expect most girls will choose to participate and be part of the fun and camaraderie that a travel experience can offer, tournament attendance is not mandatory.

Academy teams will be offered at the U-11, U-13, U-15 and U-17 levels.
